Forex Analysis | January 21, 2021

Equities aren’t moving much, again today. They again gapped up a bit, and are down slightly so far — also the little that they’re down is pretty inconsequential. I’ll just take the baskets at face value this morning.

USD – S/N – This is down for the third day in a row, and is coming back to the support level that was resistance when it broke out and looked to be reversing. It’s stalled a bit at that level right now, and looking at the 4h chart, there appears to be a bit of a rally. I’ll take a look at individual charts, maybe I can get in at the retest, or maybe the confirmation

CAD – N – This is pushing down today, but not a ton. It’s also close to, but still above some support, so I don’t know how much further it can fall. I’ll hold off here

EUR – N – After being extremely weak yesterday, this is regaining some strength. It’s bouncing off of some lows, and is up a good amount, so I don’t want to short this, but it’s also stalled at some resistance, so I don’t want to take it long just yet. I’ll flag this to keep an eye on it, but I’ll hold off for now

Today’s Pairs

NZD/USD – Long
NZD/JPY – Long

GBP – N – This is up a good amount on the day, but is coming up to some resistance that’s pretty much held since October (it’s been broken a couple of times, but each time, price quickly comes back to under that price). I’ll leave this alone for today, and maybe look to short tonight/tomorrow morning (knowing I don’t work at the ends of days, unforch..)

JPY – S/N – This is definitely downtrending, but similar to USD, this made what looked to be a reversal move last week. It’s been down since, though, and (also similar to USD) is now sitting on the support level that was the prior resistance level. I’ll take a look at this to the downside, see if I can get in on a retest or a completion of a bear rally

AUD – N – This is down a bit today, still sitting within a longer-term range and is sitting on some support in the middle of that range right now. I could maybe look at this to the downside — see if it makes it to the bottom of the range — but it doesn’t always do so. I’ll hold off here

NZD – L/N – After pushing up yesterday and overnight/this morning, price has given back a lot of it’s gains. It was up almost 50% today, but is now sitting where it is. This could be a bear move in the midst of a rally, and in it’s basket, there’s a perfect BB Long setup forming on the hourly chart, so I suppose I’ll take a look at this to the upside today

CHF – N – This is up a good amount today, but it’s currently stuck at some resistance. Even if it does push through this level, It’s up a good amount today, so I’m not sure how much further it can push. I’ll hold off here
