Forex Analysis | September 18, 2020

Equities did what I thought they might — they gapped down, but closed higher than they opened (though they were still down on the day). Seemed to not affect risk sentiment in currencies too much, anyway. I’m at a bit of a crossroads here because I’m not sure how much trading I want to do on a Friday, especially with my recent history. I’m here, though, and don’t want to miss anything, so I suppose I’ll try to keep timing in mind, I won’t chase, and I’m taking the baskets at face value.

USD – S – This has appeared to return to the downside — it’s made a new low under yesterday and is sitting on some support. Price is currently sitting at the open, though, and doesn’t look like it has much conviction in either direction. I’ll keep an eye on it, but it being Friday, I probably won’t do anything here

CAD – S – After bouncing off of some support yesterday and closing near the open, price is down a good amount today, but not quite as low as yesterday. If this can push through yesterday’s lows, this could run a bit. I’ll take a look, and any position I take, I’ll close before the market does

EUR – N – This is sitting at it’s open, and is fully within yesterday’s candle. The MA’s are touching right now, so I’ll hold off until next week to see what this wants to do

Today’s Pairs

CAD/JPY – Short
AUD/JPY – Short
USD/JPY – Short

GBP – N – This is down a little bit today after this pushed down strong yesterday but rallied. That said, it’s close to it’s open and this candle is fully within yesterday’s (wicks). I’ll hold off on this for today, too

JPY – L – This was spiking yesterday, but by the end of the day, had closed closer to it’s open. It’s spiking now (all of this similar to CAD) so if this can push above yesterday’s highs, it could run

AUD – S/N – I’m a bit apprehensive here, but it looks like it’s got some real weakness behind it. It pushed through some support already this morning and is sitting just above that level, and there’s a decent amount of room before the next support level. I’ll take a look, but again won’t chase

NZD – N – This looks like it would’ve been great a couple of hours ago. Price is up about .25% right now, but has been up about .5% already on the day. That level reached a pretty strong resistance level, so I’m not really seeing much breakout potential. I think I’m going to hold off here

CHF – N – This pushed down through some recent support this morning, but just below the day’s lows are multiple levels/areas of support. It’s not moving very quickly, so I don’t see this dropping a lot today — not enough to make a trade worth it — so I’ll leave this alone
